This Briggs and Stratton 223cc engine is the direct replacement for Toro Time-master 30in mower engine. The removal of the old engine was not difficult. Remove a few plastic shrouds, carburetor cover bracket, kill switch wiring connectors.

Yes! We have recently modified our engine oil recommendations to state that you may now use a synthetic 5W30 or 10W30 oil in all temperature ranges. We recommend the use of Briggs & Stratton Fully Synthetic Premium Long-Life Oil.

Toro says the new engine allows the mower to be stored upright and never requires an oil change.

The top setting for most mowers gives a cutting height between 3.25 and 4 inches. This is best for your lawn, but at a setting of 4 inches you may sometimes see some “laying-over” of turf blades that some people find undesirable. For this reason, some people prefer to mow at 3 or 3.5 inches.

You can give the lawn its first cut when the grass is 7-8cm tall (3 inches). This will encourage the plants to grow more shoots from the base and will thicken your lawn up nicely. Don't remove any more than 20% of the grass in the first cut. You can reduce the length very gradually over several cuts.

From what I understand Toro is one of the top high quality brands. As long as the mower was taken care of you should easily get well over 2000 hours out of it, if not more.
